The UGC has instructed institutions, University and colleges to closely follow the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Ministry of Defence for the Republic Day celebrations on January 26th.
This year’s Republic Day will be celebrated as “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” in honor of the 75th anniversary of India’s independence.
As a part of commemorating the upcoming Republic Day and thereafter, the UGC circular requested that all Higher Educational Institutions and their affiliated/constituent colleges/institutions adopt the Ministry of Defence’s Standard Operating Procedures.
Program involving flag-hauling
UGC recommend that the Republic Day Flag Hoisting stop after 9.30 am.
Flag hoisting programs may be virtual or physical, depending on the circumstances.
Attendance is mandatory for all teachers and students.
A video of the National War Memorial (NWM) or other information about the NWM could be used to spread the word. Each HEI is to create a craft project and send it to Jawans on the Border to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the country’s independence.
MoD should provide a central channel for sending these initiatives. When HEIs are closed, students may be required to complete these tasks at home. The project should emphasize the concepts of Waste to Best and Waste to Wealth. Schedule:
Participants will choose from five themes of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahaotsav between January 10 and January 25 to participate in a virtual/physical competition. The winners will be announced on Republic Day.
Additionally, higher education institutions may organize quizzes on topics such as the liberation struggle in India, military victories, etc.
Higher education institutions may also wish to engage in creative activities.
In order to comply with the federal and state government guidelines on Covid Management, the UGC has ordered higher educational institutions to implement it.
